No scout is turned away due to an inability to pay

Step 1: Attend Meetings
Come to the next meeting! If you're undecided on joining, you can participate and see whether Scouting and this Pack are a good fit for you.
Once you decide to join, apply online.
Step 2: Complete a Membership Application
You can apply online with a credit card.
New scouts will pay a portion of their costs during online registration. As of August 2023, all dues paid to the national and local council level will not be prorated for the calendar year. $117 will be charged for a 12-month registration, which includes BSA insurance fees and a one-time BSA joining fee of $25. You may also include $15 for an optional 12-month subscription to Scout Life magazine.
No child is ever turned away from Cub Scouting due to an inability to pay. If finances are a concern, please discuss with the Cubmaster, in confidence, at cubpackno9@gmail.com.
The other way to apply is to fill out a paper application. BSA prefers online applications, but it is possible to submit a paper one. We usually have some on hand, or you can print it out and turn it in.
Returning scouts do not need to reapply online.
Step 3: Complete a Medical Form and Pay Pack Dues
Complete a medical form (parts A, B1, and B2). Pack 9 will accept paper copies of the form with ink signatures or digital copies uploaded online. A copy of the record will be confidentially maintained with the leader of the activity. This must be updated at least annually. Pack 9 highly recommends that parents retain a copy of the Annual Health & Medical Record for their own records and in case the Pack requires additional copies for summer camp or other needs that may arise.
Pack dues support programming and cover awards and recognition items. Pack 9 does not require fundraising. See the FAQ section about how the Pack is financed. Pack dues for new scouts ($63 Kindergarten, $73 Grades 1-4, $43 Grade 5) should be paid to Pack 9.
Step 4: Contact Us
Regardless of how you apply, please contact us and let us know of your interest. We will assign you to a den and notify the den leader. He or she will contact you and tell you when the den meets. The Cubmaster will invite you to pack activities.
If you could give only one gift to the young people who are most important in your life, what would it be? No matter what your family situation, it is within your power to help these children grow into people with a good feeling about themselves and a genuine concern for others. Cub Scouting can assist you in providing the greatest gift of all.
Children of age for Cub Scouts benefit developmentally from belonging to a small group of peers. Your child will be a part of a den, a small group of Cub Scouts in the same grade level. Through this sense of belonging, children build self-esteem and learn to get along with others.
As a parent, you want to be assured that the groups your child joins will teach values consistent with good citizenship, character development, personal fitness, and leadership. We know that kids do not join Cub Scouting for character building. Kids join because it is fun! Your child will learn great lessons, but they will be far too busy having fun to notice.
